Chapter 5 - The Stolen Diamonds

I stared at the cryptic words, my mind struggling to piece together this massive new puzzle.

Daniel was not just stealing from a family trust that rightfully belonged to him.

He had forged his grandfather's will to steal the entire fortune from the actual, legitimate heir.

Before I could process this monumental revelation, the kitchen doors burst open.

Patricia marched in, her face flushed with absolute rage over my performance in the dining room.

She grabbed my arm forcefully, her perfectly manicured nails digging painfully into my skin.

She dragged me out of the kitchen and into the dimly lit service corridor.

She told me that my little accident with the water pitcher had cost me my last ounce of leniency.

She reached into her designer pocket and pulled out a small, glittering object.

It was the three-million-dollar diamond necklace from the receipt I had found earlier.

Patricia aggressively shoved the heavy jewels into the deep pocket of my maid's uniform.

I looked at her in total confusion, wondering why she was giving me the stolen syndicate collateral.

Patricia smiled a cold, reptilian smile and loudly shouted for the estate security guards.

Two massive men in dark suits immediately rounded the corner, blocking my only path of escape.

Patricia pointed an accusing finger directly at my chest and raised her voice for maximum dramatic effect.

She hysterically claimed that she had just caught me trying to steal her priceless family heirlooms.

She ordered the guards to search my pockets and detain me until the police arrived.

One of the guards stepped forward, violently reaching into my pocket and pulling out the diamond necklace.

Patricia sneered, claiming that my desperate theft proved I was having a severe psychological breakdown.

They were executing their sinister medical plan perfectly, framing me as a crazy, thieving bride.

I knew that if I was arrested for grand larceny, no judge would ever believe my claims about trust fraud or syndicates.

The guards grabbed my arms, twisting them painfully behind my back to secure me.

Just as they started dragging me toward the basement holding room, a loud, elegant voice echoed from the main hallway.

"Release her immediately, or I will have you all arrested for assault."

Everyone froze and turned toward the commanding voice.

A stunning, older woman dressed in haute couture stepped into the corridor, her eyes burning with undeniable authority.

Patricia turned completely pale, taking a stumbling step backward in sheer terror.

The woman looked directly at me and said, "It is time we finally met, Clara."
