Chapter 10 - The New Empire
Three months passed in a beautiful, healing blur of sunshine and peaceful silence.
I purchased a stunning, secluded beach house on a private island, entirely disconnected from the chaos of the city.
Julian was officially convicted and sentenced to twenty-five years in federal prison without the possibility of parole.
Chloe took a massive plea deal, turning heavily against the remnants of her father's criminal syndicate to save herself.
She was placed into absolute solitary confinement, completely neutralized and stripped of all her power.
I used a massive portion of the fifty million dollars to establish a powerful charitable foundation in Eleanor’s name.
The foundation provided fully funded medical care for elderly patients whose families had abandoned them in hospitals.
It was the perfect, poetic justice to honor the woman who trusted me with her greatest secret.
I spent my mornings drinking hot coffee on my massive wooden deck, watching the ocean waves crash against the shore.
I had completely rebuilt my life from the shattered pieces of a broken twenty-year marriage.
I was incredibly wealthy, entirely free, and genuinely happy for the first time in a decade.
The pain of Julian's horrific betrayal had completely faded, replaced by the profound strength of my own independence.
The nightmare was permanently over, and I had absolutely won the war.
On a warm Tuesday afternoon, I walked down my private driveway to check the secure mailbox.
I opened the metal door and found a small, padded envelope with a Hawaiian postmark.
I frowned, completely confused, and tore the package open right there in the driveway.
Inside was a positive pregnancy test and a glossy photograph of Julian smiling on the beach.
Attached to the photograph was a handwritten note that made my blood run completely cold.

"You took his money and ruined his life, but you forgot he has a child coming," the terrifying note read.
"And the true heir is coming to claim everything."
