Chapter 6 - The Fall of the CEO

Julian didn't know about Victoria’s threat until he returned to New York. When his private security informed him that Victoria had dispatched lawyers to Ohio, a dormant, protective fury ignited inside him.

He stormed into the Sterling Enterprises boardroom, where Victoria was leading a meeting with their top investors.

"Julian, darling," Victoria smiled, pretending everything was fine. "We were just discussing the merger—"

"The merger is dead," Julian said, his voice echoing like thunder.

The boardroom went silent.

"And so is the engagement," Julian continued, pulling the massive diamond ring Victoria had left on his nightstand out of his pocket and dropping it onto the mahogany table. It hit the wood with a sharp clack.

"Julian, you are making a mistake," Victoria hissed, her face flushing red. "If you cancel this, the board will vote you out. You will lose half your net worth. Over what? A gold-digger and her brats?"

Julian walked up to her, his eyes blazing with a dangerous, quiet fire.

"If you ever send your corporate thugs to threaten my family again," Julian said, "I won't just ruin this merger. I will systematically dismantle your entire family's portfolio. I don't care about the money anymore, Victoria. I care about the woman I love and the children I abandoned."

He turned and walked out of the boardroom, leaving his billionaire lifestyle behind without a single ounce of regret.
