Chapter 6 - The Desperate Ex

Liam stepped out of the armored truck, keeping the heavy rifle aimed directly at Alexander's chest.
His expensive suit was ruined, his hair was a mess, and his eyes were wild with absolute madness.
"Get away from my wife," Liam demanded, his voice shaking with unstable fury.
Alexander slowly stood up, placing his body firmly between Liam and Olivia.
"She is not your wife anymore, Hayes," Alexander replied calmly, ignoring the weapon entirely.
"You sold her out to a cartel just to save your own pathetic ego."
Liam let out a dark, broken laugh that echoed through the quiet forest.
"I didn't sell her out, I made a strategic trade," Liam argued, pacing back and forth.
"They get the source code from Olivia, and they clear my massive debt."
"I even agreed to let them eliminate you, Alexander, as a bonus prize."
Olivia struggled to sit up, the pain in her abdomen dull but still present.
"You are completely insane, Liam," she gasped, horrified by the monster he had become.
"I am securing my legacy!" Liam screamed back at her, pointing the gun at her face.
"You ruined everything when you walked into that Plaza ballroom looking so perfect."
He admitted that seeing her pregnant and glowing had completely shattered his fragile reality.
He realized he had thrown away the only woman who had ever truly loved him for nothing.
But instead of begging for forgiveness, his twisted mind decided he had to destroy her entirely.
"Give me the transfer codes for the patent right now," Liam ordered, stepping closer.
"If you do, I will let you walk away and have those babies in peace."
Olivia looked into the eyes of the man she had spent six years of her life with.
She saw absolutely nothing left of the man she had married in that tiny Queens apartment.
"I would rather die than give you my company," Olivia stated with absolute, unwavering certainty.
Liam's face twisted into an ugly sneer, and he raised the rifle to his shoulder.
"Then I guess we die together," he whispered, his finger tightening on the trigger.
Suddenly, a loud gunshot rang out from the dense treeline behind them.
Liam gasped in shock, dropping his rifle as a bullet tore completely through his right shoulder.
He collapsed to the muddy ground, screaming in agonizing pain.

Olivia and Alexander turned toward the trees to see who had just fired the saving shot.
Khloe walked out of the shadows, blowing the smoke from the barrel of her silver pistol.
