Chapter 5 - The Earth's Vengeance
A deafening, terrifying roar echoed through the subway tunnels as the concrete floor entirely gave way.
Massive, jagged roots from the ancient trees in the park above burst violently through the ceiling like living serpents.
The thick, wooden tendrils aggressively wrapped around the heavily armed mercenaries, ripping the rifles right out of their hands.
Arthur screamed in sheer, absolute panic as a thick root coiled tightly around his ankle and dragged him into the darkness.
Robert stood completely frozen in shock, watching the impossible display of raw, supernatural nature tearing his enemies apart.
The little girl stepped out from behind him, her amber eyes now glowing with a blinding, brilliant golden light.
She raised her small hand, and the violent chaos in the underground chamber instantly ceased, leaving the mercenaries pinned and helpless.
She told Robert that the earth always balances its scales, and his willingness to sacrifice his life had finalized their contract.
Without wasting another second, she grabbed Robert's hand, and the surrounding shadows seemed to instantly fold entirely around them.
The sickening sensation of falling through an endless void made Robert tightly squeeze his eyes shut in sheer terror.
When he opened them a fraction of a second later, the damp subway walls were completely gone.
He was standing perfectly upright in the middle of Ethan's luxurious penthouse bedroom, miles away from Brooklyn.
The sniper's red laser dot was still dancing dangerously across Ethan's heavily sweating forehead.
The little girl calmly walked over to the reinforced glass window and simply tapped it with her index finger.
A massive flock of black crows materialized out of the night sky, violently crashing into the sniper's hidden perch across the street.

The red laser instantly vanished, leaving the luxurious bedroom in a state of absolute, eerie silence.
Ethan let out a weak, agonizing gasp from the bed, his body convulsing as the failing miracle continued to shut down his organs.
