Chapter 6 - The Standoff at the Gates
The heavy iron gates of the Moretti estate groaned under the force of an armored SUV ramming against them.
Alarms blared into the night sky, painting the manicured lawns in flashing red and blue security lights.
Alessandro did not flinch as the sound of automatic gunfire echoed from the perimeter walls.
He ordered Dante to escort the council members to the underground bunker while he handled the invasion personally.
He grabbed an assault rifle from a hidden weapons cache in the dining room and marched toward the front doors.
Rosa ran after him, grabbing his arm and begging him not to risk his life in a suicidal shootout.
Alessandro pulled her into a fierce, breathless kiss, telling her that a Don never hides while his family is threatened.
He stepped out onto the grand stone portico, staring down the barrel of a hundred weapons pointed at his home.
Vincent Romano stood at the front of his private army, holding a megaphone and demanding an immediate parley.
Alessandro raised his hand, signaling his own snipers hidden on the roof to hold their fire.
Vincent's voice boomed across the gravel driveway, full of gravel and absolute authority.
He demanded that Alessandro hand over the lying maid and honor the marriage treaty to combine their empires.
He claimed that Rosa was a fugitive thief who had stolen millions in diamonds from the Romano vault before fleeing Chicago.
Alessandro stood his ground, his voice echoing loudly without the need for a megaphone.
He publicly declared that the marriage treaty was officially void and that Rosa Mendes was under his eternal protection.
Vincent laughed, a cruel and echoing sound that chilled Rosa to the bone.
He told Alessandro that breaking the treaty was a fatal mistake he was about to deeply regret.
Vincent pulled a digital audio recorder from his coat pocket and held it up to the megaphone microphone.

The distorted recording played a conversation between a doctor and Isabella Romano from two days ago.
The doctor's voice confirmed that Isabella was eight weeks pregnant with Alessandro's legitimate heir.
