Chapter 10 - The New Sovereign

Six months later, the morning sun broke over the London skyline, casting a warm, golden glow through the panoramic windows of the seventy-fifth floor of the Sterling Zenith.
Maya stood by the glass, looking out over the city. She wore a perfectly tailored, charcoal-grey suit. Her posture was impeccable, radiating a quiet, absolute authority.
The doors to the office hummed open. Elias stepped in, carrying a leather dossier.
"The board voted unanimously," Elias reported, his tone respectful. "Damian Sterling has been stripped of his shares and is facing federal indictments for corporate sabotage and domestic terrorism. Serena is securely locked in a maximum-security psychiatric facility in Geneva, awaiting extradition."
Maya nodded, not turning away from the window. "And the legacy formulas?"
"The transition is complete. Your new botanical stabilizers have completely replaced the toxic synthetics in every AURAINE product worldwide. Sales are up 40%. The rebrand is a historic success, Ms. Frost."
Maya finally turned around. She walked over to the monolithic marble desk and sat down in the high-backed leather chair.
"Thank you, Elias."
Elias hesitated for a moment. "She’s waiting in the private hangar, ma'am. The jet leaves for the Maldives in an hour."
Maya took a deep breath. She picked up a small, unbranded black velvet box from her desk and walked to the private elevator.
Twenty minutes later, Maya stepped onto the tarmac of the private airfield. The sleek Gulfstream jet was idling, its engines a low, powerful hum.
Sitting in a wheelchair at the base of the stairs, wrapped in a luxurious cashmere blanket, was Veronica.
The chemical fire had taken a brutal toll. Veronica wore dark sunglasses, and the left side of her face and neck were covered in intricate, healing skin grafts. She would never model for the brand again. Her days as the flawless, untouchable ice queen were over.
But as she looked up and saw Maya approaching, Veronica smiled. It was a genuine, warm expression that the corporate world had never seen.
"You look like a CEO," Veronica said, her voice slightly raspy but strong.
"I learned from the most terrifying woman in London," Maya replied, handing the velvet box to Veronica.
Veronica opened it. Inside was a vial of a new lip stain. It was a soft, beautiful rose color, completely non-toxic, and smelled faintly of vanilla and hope.
"It’s called Rebirth," Maya said softly. "It’s the new flagship."
Veronica held the vial, a tear slipping out from beneath her sunglasses. She looked at her niece, the girl who had arrived as a ghost to destroy her, but had ended up becoming her salvation. Veronica had lost her beauty, and she had lost her throne, but she had finally found her soul.
"It’s perfect," Veronica whispered.
"Have a good retirement, Aunt Veronica. I'll run the empire. You just rest."
May you like
Veronica nodded, allowing Elias to assist her up the stairs of the jet. As the door closed and the plane taxied down the runway, Maya stood alone on the tarmac, watching the jet ascend into the clear blue sky.
The empire of lies was dead. The AURAINE dynasty was finally built on truth, and the new sovereign was ready to rule the world.
