Chapter 7 - The Underground Facility

Adrian bolted out of the office, abandoning all stealth as he sprinted toward the main elevator bank.
He violently knocked out a patrolling guard, stealing his keycard and heavy assault rifle before the man even hit the floor.
He swiped the access card, stepped into the glass elevator, and hit the button for the lowest subterranean level.
The doors opened to a pristine, terrifyingly sterile white hallway lined with heavily armed tactical mercenaries.
Adrian did not hesitate for a single second, raising the stolen rifle and firing with deadly, precise accuracy.
He fought his way down the corridor, fueled by ten years of unimaginable grief and furious desperation.
He kicked open the heavy double doors of the primary surgical theater, sweeping the room with his weapon.
In the center of the brightly lit room, a pale, teenage boy was strapped securely to a silver medical table.
Adrian instantly recognized the dark hair and the facial features that perfectly mirrored Claire's beautiful face.
It was Noah, sedated but conscious, staring at the ceiling in complete, helpless terror.
Before Adrian could take a step toward his son, a massive figure stepped out from the shadows near the surgical equipment.
It was Marcus, holding a heavy combat knife and wearing a thick Kevlar tactical vest.
Marcus casually wiped a spot of blood from his cheek and smiled a dark, completely remorseless smile.
He proudly announced that he had been on Sterling's payroll since the very first day he was hired at Caldwell House.
Marcus threw his weapon aside and challenged Adrian to a fight, clearly intending to brutalize his former boss.
Adrian dropped his empty rifle, drew a small combat blade he had taken from the guard upstairs, and lunged forward.
The two men clashed violently, their blades sparking as they fought a bloody, desperate battle across the sterile surgical floor.
Adrian finally gained the upper hand, driving his knee into Marcus's chest and knocking the traitor entirely unconscious.
He stumbled toward the operating table, tears blurring his vision as he reached out to unbuckle his son's restraints.

A cold, familiar voice suddenly echoed from the observation deck above the surgical theater.
Adrian looked up to see Victor Sterling standing behind the glass, pointing a sniper rifle directly at Noah's head.
