Chapter 4 - The Internal Bleeding

The executives in the boardroom began shouting all at once as they read the damning projection on the wall.

Victoria stood frozen, her eyes wide with shock as she stared at her own forged signature on the screen.

She had never seen that offshore transfer document in her entire life.

Someone had brilliantly framed her for corporate embezzlement, and they had executed it flawlessly.

"That is a complete forgery," Victoria yelled over the rising chaos, pointing an accusing finger at Daniel.

"You fabricated this to justify stealing my company, you absolute fraud!"

Daniel remained seated, looking genuinely amused by her desperate, flailing accusations.

"The forensic digital signatures have already been authenticated by three independent auditing firms," Daniel replied smoothly.

Her father, Richard, stepped forward with a look of absolute devastation on his aging face.

"Victoria, how could you betray our own family like this?" Richard asked, his voice breaking with emotion.

Victoria stared at her father, completely shattered that he would believe she was capable of such treason.

She looked around the room, desperately seeking a single ally among the board members she had known for years.

Her eyes locked onto Marcus, the company's chief legal counsel and her most trusted personal mentor.

"Marcus, tell them this is impossible, tell them I do not even have the security clearance to move those patents," she begged.

Marcus slowly stood up, adjusting his expensive silk tie without making eye contact with her.

He walked calmly over to Daniel's side of the table and handed the billionaire a secondary legal file.

"I am sorry, Victoria, but I am the one who provided Mr. Torres with the transaction records," Marcus announced coldly.

The betrayal hit Victoria like a physical punch to the stomach, completely knocking the wind out of her.

Marcus had been secretly feeding Daniel inside information for months, completely orchestrating her current downfall.

"You will face federal prison time for this, Miss Hartwell," Daniel said, sliding the resignation paper toward her again.

"Sign the shares over to me right now, and I will make sure the evidence conveniently disappears."

Victoria realized she was completely cornered by a master chess player who had anticipated her every move.

She picked up the expensive fountain pen, tears of pure humiliation burning in her eyes as she prepared to sign away her life.

Before the pen could touch the paper, a loud alarm suddenly began blaring throughout the entire corporate headquarters.

The heavy glass doors of the boardroom burst open, revealing a heavily armed squad of federal tactical agents.

"Nobody move, this entire building is under federal lockdown," the lead agent shouted, raising his weapon.

Daniel stood up in shock, completely caught off guard for the first time since the gala.

The federal agent marched directly up to the table, but he did not look at Victoria.

He pulled out a pair of steel handcuffs and clamped them forcefully onto Daniel Torres's wrists.

"Mr. Torres, you are under arrest for masterminding a massive international money laundering syndicate."
