Chapter 3 - The Boardroom Massacre

Monday morning arrived with a suffocating atmosphere of doom inside the Hartwell corporate headquarters.

Victoria stepped out of the private elevator, wearing her most intimidating designer suit to project strength.

The executive floor was completely chaotic, with frantic analysts running down the hallways clutching financial reports.

She walked directly toward the main boardroom, fully prepared to offer Daniel Torres a hollow, strategic apology.

She expected to find her father desperately negotiating at the head of the massive mahogany table.

Instead, the large leather chair belonging to the CEO was occupied by a very different man.

Daniel Torres sat casually at the head of the table, sipping black coffee from a porcelain cup.

Her father was standing nervously in the corner, clutching a legal folder like a subordinate employee.

"You are exactly four minutes late, Miss Hartwell," Daniel noted, checking his expensive silver watch.

Victoria felt her temper flare, but she forced a tight, artificial smile onto her face.

"I apologize for the misunderstanding at the gala, Mr. Torres," she said, taking a seat opposite him.

"I am prepared to offer a public statement of regret if we can proceed with the five hundred million dollar investment."

Daniel set his coffee cup down very slowly, the clinking sound echoing loudly in the silent room.

"There is no investment anymore, Victoria," he stated plainly.

"I am not here to fund your failing empire, I am here to completely dismantle it."

He snapped his fingers, and his team of ruthless corporate lawyers began passing out thick stacks of legal documents.

"Over the weekend, my firm quietly purchased seventy percent of your outstanding corporate debt," Daniel explained.

"You now owe me roughly eight hundred million dollars, payable immediately by the end of business today."

Victoria felt all the blood drain from her face as she scanned the authentic legal signatures.

"You know we do not have that kind of liquid capital," Richard whimpered from the corner of the room.

"I am fully aware of your bankruptcy, which is why I am initiating a hostile takeover," Daniel smiled coldly.

He slid a single sheet of paper across the table directly toward Victoria.

"I will forgive the debt and allow your father to keep his pension under one specific condition."

Victoria picked up the paper, her hands trembling uncontrollably as she read the single paragraph.

"You want me to resign from the company completely?" she asked, her voice raising in disbelief.

"Not just resign," Daniel corrected her, leaning forward with a dark glint in his eyes.

"I want you to sign over all of your personal voting shares to me, leaving you with absolutely nothing."

Victoria stood up violently, her chair crashing backward onto the plush carpet.

"I will never surrender my legacy to a petty, vindictive monster like you," she screamed.

Daniel did not react to her outburst, but instead pulled a small, silver flash drive from his pocket.

"I was hoping you would choose to fight," he whispered, plugging the drive into the boardroom projector.

The massive screen on the wall flickered to life, displaying a highly confidential contract bearing Victoria's exact signature.

It was a secret, illegal document proving that Victoria had secretly transferred the company's most valuable tech patents to an offshore shell company.

Daniel had just exposed her as a corporate criminal in front of the entire executive board.
