Chapter 9 - The Standoff

I threw the heavy tactical pistol onto the wet concrete of the patio, completely surrendering to Victoria's terrifying demand.
"Just let my daughter walk back to me, and you can take absolutely everything I own," I begged with tears streaming down my face.
Victoria smiled a deeply wicked, completely victorious smile as she pulled a folded, highly official document from her ruined dress.
She demanded that I use the blood currently dripping from a cut on my hand to officially fingerprint the signature line.
I slowly walked entirely toward her, my hands raised defensively, completely willing to sacrifice my entire empire to save my little girl.
Suddenly, the heavy glass patio doors behind us were violently completely shattered by a massive, heavily armored man.
Marcus, entirely covered in blood and clutching his injured side, aggressively burst onto the patio holding a heavy assault rifle.
"Step away from the child immediately, Victoria, the federal police have completely surrounded the mountain," Marcus roared furiously.
Victoria's eyes widened in absolute sheer panic, realizing her dead husband's perimeter had been violently and completely breached.
Instead of surrendering, her face twisted into an ugly mask of pure, unadulterated madness and absolute cruel desperation.
"If I cannot have the massive fortune, then absolutely nobody gets to walk away happy tonight," she shrieked like a maniac.
She violently shoved Lily backward, completely pushing my innocent daughter entirely over the dangerous edge of the steep infinity pool.
I screamed with pure, absolute terror and dove completely across the wet concrete patio without a single second of hesitation.
I slid aggressively over the slippery edge of the pool, desperately reaching my hand completely out into the dark, empty air.
My fingers violently closed completely around the incredibly thin fabric of Lily's small jacket just as she began to fall.
I slammed heavily into the concrete lip of the pool, the incredibly immense weight of her fall aggressively dislocating my right shoulder.
I gritted my teeth, ignoring the absolute agonizing, blinding pain, and completely refused to let go of my precious daughter.
Marcus aggressively sprinted entirely forward to help me, completely taking his eyes off the wicked, desperate killer for one fatal second.

Victoria aggressively pulled a completely hidden, extremely small silver revolver entirely from an ankle holster hidden beneath her dress.
She aimed the deadly weapon completely directly at my exposed, helpless back as I struggled to pull Lily safely up.
