Chapter 7 - The Tunnel Escape

The sound of heavy assault rifles echoed through the marble hallways of the mansion.
Dante tossed me a spare handgun and grabbed the baby carrier resting near the bed.
We have to get to the underground panic room, he ordered, kicking his bedroom door open.
We sprinted down the grand staircase, dodging the shattered glass from the beautiful chandeliers.
Dante's loyal guards were fighting bravely, but Victor's mercenaries heavily outnumbered them.
As we reached the basement corridor, a tall figure stepped out from the shadows, blocking our path.
It was Marco, Dante's most trusted right-hand man, holding a customized submachine gun.
I disabled the security cameras for Victor, Marco sneered, raising his weapon toward us.
Dante did not hesitate for even a fraction of a second.
He shoved me and Leo behind a stone pillar and charged directly at the traitor.
Marco fired, but Dante ducked beneath the barrage of bullets with incredible, lethal speed.
Dante slammed into Marco, tackling him violently against the concrete wall.
The brutal hand-to-hand fight lasted only seconds before Dante managed to snap the traitor's neck.
Dante fell back, clutching his bleeding shoulder as he tossed me a ring of heavy brass keys.
The panic room is compromised, you have to take the old smuggling tunnel, Dante instructed.
I am not leaving you behind to die! I cried, refusing to walk away from the man I loved.
Dante kissed the top of Leo's head and then kissed me fiercely on the lips.
I will hold them off here, just keep my son safe, he demanded, pushing me toward the hidden steel door.
I unlocked the tunnel entrance, sobbing as I ran into the dark, damp passage with the baby.
I ran for what felt like hours, listening to the muffled sounds of explosives shaking the earth above me.
I finally reached the rusted iron gate at the end of the tunnel and pushed it open into the night air.
I stumbled out into an abandoned train yard, gasping desperately for fresh oxygen.

A blinding spotlight suddenly clicked on, illuminating the dark tracks perfectly.
Victor was standing right in front of me, smiling wickedly as he aimed a silver revolver at my head.
