Chapter 6 - The Stolen Child

The entire room seemed to completely stop spinning as Patricia's horrific words violently echoed off the high ceilings.

Leo stepped out from behind the heavy wooden door, his small face completely pale and his eyes wide with absolute shock.

Mark dropped his digital recorder onto the hardwood floor, utterly speechless and completely paralyzed by this impossible revelation.

He furiously demanded to know what his wife was talking about, completely unaware of this massive, dark secret.

Patricia violently yanked against the metal handcuffs, her face twisted into a highly cruel, totally triumphant sneer.

She viciously revealed that she had secretly been entirely infertile her whole life, a fact she had completely hidden from her own husband.

She then looked directly into my terrified eyes, completely savoring the absolute destruction she was causing.

She explained to everyone that eleven years ago, I was a completely broken, incredibly young, and highly vulnerable pregnant girl.

Because I was entirely alone and financially ruined by her manipulation, she had convinced me to let her legally adopt my newborn baby.

She had totally manipulated me into believing that working as their unpaid maid was the absolute only way I could ever stay in my son's life.

Our mother gasped loudly, finally realizing the immense, suffocating weight of the terrifying secret I had carried completely alone for a decade.

Leo slowly walked toward me, his small hands violently trembling as tears began to stream down his cheeks.

He looked up into my completely shattered face and softly asked if I was truly his real mother.

I fell to my knees entirely on the gravy-stained rug, openly sobbing as I finally, proudly nodded my head yes.

I reached out my arms to completely embrace my beautiful son for the very first time without hiding my true identity.

Before Leo could even take a single step toward me, Mark aggressively intercepted him and pulled the boy violently behind his back.

Mark stared at me with completely cold, entirely dead eyes, stating that biology absolutely did not matter in the eyes of the law.
