Chapter 5 - The Secret Recording
The tiny speaker of the digital recorder crackled slightly before Patricia's clear, distinct voice filled the silent room.
The recorded audio captured her laughing maliciously, explicitly bragging about how incredibly easy it was to forge her mother's signature on the bank transfers.
In the recording, Mark's voice could be heard nervously begging her to stop before they both ended up in federal prison.
Patricia's recorded response was entirely chilling, as she confidently stated that if they ever got caught, she would simply frame her gullible sister Sarah again.
The audio definitively proved that Mark was completely opposed to the embezzlement, leaving Patricia entirely guilty of the massive fraud.
The lead detective immediately pulled out a pair of heavy steel handcuffs, instructing Patricia to place her hands securely behind her back.
She fought violently against the officers, kicking the expensive furniture and screaming entirely like a deranged lunatic.
She yelled that this was entirely my fault, aggressively claiming that I had always been entirely jealous of her perfect, beautiful life.
I stood perfectly still, watching the toxic empire she had built on my sacrifices completely crumble to dust.
Our mother could not even bear to look at her, completely turning her back on Patricia for the first time in her entire life.
As the officers aggressively dragged her toward the front door, Patricia suddenly stopped fighting and began to laugh hysterically.
It was a dark, completely unhinged sound that sent a terrible, freezing chill straight down my spine.
She looked directly at me with eyes full of pure, unadulterated venom and raw hatred.
She loudly mocked my victory, stating that I might have successfully taken away her freedom and her stolen wealth.
But she promised with a twisted smile that she would take away the only thing I had ever truly loved.
