Chapter 9 - The Legal Checkmate

Adrian did not fight the heavily armed police officers as they aggressively forced him to the ground.
He allowed them to snap cold steel handcuffs tightly around his burned, blistered wrists.
He knew that Victoria had used her massive wealth and fake evidence to frame him for the entire disaster.
"Please do not hurt him, he just saved our lives!" Clara screamed, crying hysterically as they dragged her father away.
Elena held her children tightly, her eyes locking with Adrian’s in a silent promise of absolute resilience.
They threw Adrian into the back of a heavily armored police transport van, slamming the metal doors shut.
An hour later, Adrian was shackled securely to a metal table inside a bleak, gray federal interrogation room.
The heavy door creaked open, and Victoria walked in wearing a pristine, incredibly expensive white designer suit.
She sat across from him, smiling a wicked, victorious smile that made Adrian's blood boil.
"You really fought valiantly, Adrian, but you simply cannot defeat a woman who owns the entire justice system," Victoria mocked.
"I have the signed corporate deeds, the police chief is on my payroll, and you are going to prison forever."
Adrian leaned forward against his heavy metal chains, completely unfazed by her arrogant gloating.
"You made one massive, fatal mistake today, Victoria," Adrian whispered with a chilling, confident smirk.
Before Victoria could respond, the interrogation room door flew open with a sudden, violent crash.
A tall, imposing federal prosecutor walked into the room, holding a thick, undeniable stack of legal documents.
Behind the prosecutor stood Elena, wearing a sharp business suit and looking absolutely furious.
"Victoria Sterling, you are officially under arrest for corporate espionage, attempted murder, and massive federal fraud," the prosecutor announced loudly.
Victoria stood up in sheer panic, her pristine confidence shattering into a million pathetic pieces.
"This is completely absurd, I own the company now, check the signature on the deeds!" Victoria shrieked wildly.
Elena stepped forward, slamming her hands down aggressively on the metal table.
"The signature is entirely useless, Victoria, because Adrian quietly transferred full ownership of the empire to me five years ago."
Victoria realized instantly that she had spent the entire day fighting a brutal war for a completely empty prize.
In a sudden burst of desperate, cornered madness, Victoria reached into her designer purse.

She pulled out a small, concealed ceramic pistol that had bypassed the metal detectors completely.
She aimed the lethal weapon directly at the center of Elena's chest, her finger trembling violently on the trigger.
