Chapter 2 - The Stolen Years

Charlotte watched in absolute sheer horror as Margaret lunged desperately like a wild animal toward her scattered personal belongings.

Before her wicked aunt could reach the canvas bag, Daniel stepped rapidly forward and quickly snatched it from the cold marble floor.

The hotel manager dutifully handed the bag securely back to Charlotte, earning a highly furious, completely murderous glare from Margaret.

"You have absolutely no idea what massive mistake you are making tonight, father," Margaret hissed venomously at Sebastian.

Sebastian simply ignored her entirely and instructed Daniel to safely escort Charlotte directly to the highly secure penthouse suite to change her clothes.

Charlotte clutched the battered canvas bag incredibly tightly to her chest as she quickly followed Daniel into the private, gold-plated elevator.

Her heart hammered violently against her ribs as the elevator shot rapidly up to the heavily guarded top floor of the massive hotel.

Once they were safely completely inside the luxurious, massive penthouse, Charlotte finally unzipped her worn canvas bag with shaking hands.

She reached far past her old clothes and pulled out the old yellow envelope that had mysteriously fallen out earlier in the lobby.

Her hands trembled uncontrollably as she carefully opened the sealed flap and pulled out a thick stack of aged, highly confidential medical documents.

They were official psychiatric evaluations dated exactly eight years ago, highly authenticated and strictly signed by a prominent state doctor.

The papers falsely declared Charlotte entirely severely mentally unstable and completely legally unfit to ever inherit the massive Valle corporate fortune.

"She illegally forged these exact documents to lock me away in that terrible, abusive facility," Charlotte whispered in pure, absolute disbelief.

Margaret had entirely legally stolen her billion-dollar trust fund and her entire youth with a single, highly expensive fake medical signature.

She knew she had to take these physical papers straight to the police immediately to fully expose her wicked aunt and reclaim her life.

Charlotte turned around quickly to ask Daniel to call for a heavily armed police escort to safely bring her directly to the station.

However, the massive penthouse door was already completely shut tight, and Daniel was standing firmly directly in front of the only exit.

He casually reached into his highly tailored designer suit jacket and pulled out a small, incredibly heavy silver pistol with a silencer attached.

"I am truly sorry, Ms. Valle, but Margaret pays me far better than your dying grandfather ever possibly could," Daniel said coldly.

He demanded she hand over the yellow envelope immediately so he could thoroughly destroy the only existing physical evidence of the massive corporate crime.

Charlotte slowly backed away from the heavily armed man, her mind racing desperately for any possible, highly unlikely way completely out of the suite.

She knew the heavy oak doors were electronically locked from the inside with a highly secure, heavily encrypted special digital keypad.

"If you illegally kill me here, my grandfather will absolutely completely ruin your entire miserable life," she warned him fiercely.

Daniel simply smiled a highly arrogant smile and raised the dangerous weapon until it was pointed directly at her rapidly beating heart.

"You are just an escaped, heavily medicated mental patient who tragically jumped from a high balcony," he sneered highly maliciously.

Charlotte completely realized he was entirely serious about fully faking her highly tragic suicide to completely cover up the massive corporate scandal forever.

She forcefully threw a heavy crystal vase directly at his head and sprinted desperately toward the massive glass balcony doors.

She threw the doors completely open and stepped entirely out into the freezing night air, completely trapped on the fiftieth floor.

Daniel stepped calmly out onto the balcony, aiming his gun directly at her back with a deeply cruel, highly confident laugh.

"There is absolutely nowhere left in the world for you to run, Charlotte," he mocked smoothly, his finger resting heavily on the trigger.

Suddenly, a strong, highly muscular hand reached completely out from the dark adjacent balcony and violently yanked Charlotte over the thick glass partition.

She crashed heavily onto the neighboring terrace just as a suppressed gunshot violently shattered the very glass where she had been standing.
