Chapter 9 - The Rooftop Standoff

Margaret forcefully dragged Charlotte up the final flight of concrete stairs toward the hotel's massive helipad.
The freezing night wind whipped aggressively around them as they burst out onto the completely dark rooftop.
"Where is your helicopter, Margaret, there is nowhere left to run!" Charlotte screamed over the howling wind.
"I paid the pilot to wait exactly here, he just needs two minutes to land," Margaret sneered, pressing the gun harder against Charlotte's temple.
Julian and Elias carefully pushed open the heavy roof doors, keeping their hands completely visible to avoid startling the desperate woman.
"Let her safely go, mother, you have absolutely nothing left to fight for," Elias pleaded with a deeply broken voice.
Margaret laughed cruelly and took a dangerous step backward toward the absolute edge of the fifty-story building.
Suddenly, a massive black helicopter ascended from the darkness, completely blinding them with a highly intense searchlight.
The sudden blast of bright light caused Margaret to flinch violently and temporarily lose her tight grip on Charlotte's hair.
Charlotte used the brief moment to violently elbow her aunt perfectly in the ribs, breaking entirely free from her grasp.
Margaret stumbled backward in pure shock, her expensive high heels slipping dangerously on the icy edge of the rooftop.
With a terrified shriek, Margaret lost her balance and completely fell backward over the massive drop.
Charlotte lunged forward instinctively, managing to completely grab Margaret's wrist just as she slipped over the edge.
Margaret dangled violently fifty stories above the hard concrete streets, screaming in absolute terror as she swung in the cold wind.
"Hold onto me, I am going to completely pull you safely up!" Charlotte grunted, straining with every muscle in her body.
"Why are you helping me after everything I did to you?" Margaret cried softly, completely dropping her heavy pistol into the abyss.
Before Charlotte could answer, the heavy roof doors burst completely open again with a deafening crash.
Daniel Reed had regained consciousness and completely followed them up to the roof, heavily holding a second loaded pistol.

"Margaret might be completely finished, but I still have a massive bounty to collect on your head," the corrupt manager smiled wickedly.
He completely aimed the heavy pistol entirely directly at Julian's heart, completely ready to finally end the billionaire's life forever.
