Rowan did not wait for Selene to process his final words.
He quickly emailed the horrific video from Aurora’s phone directly to his own private account.
He handed the device back to his terrified niece without saying a single word.
Ivy wrapped her warm winter coat tightly around Elara’s shaking shoulders.
She glared at Selene with a hatred so pure it seemed to lower the temperature in the room.
Selene stood completely frozen as the reality of her lost financial support finally sank in.
Rowan gently lifted his crying daughter into his arms and carried her out the front door.
The drive back to their house was completely silent except for Elara’s exhausted sniffles.

As soon as they walked into their home, Rowan pulled out his laptop to cancel Selene’s bank transfers.
He systematically cut off her mortgage payments, her car insurance, and her emergency credit cards.
He felt a strange sense of absolute peace as he severed the toxic ties forever.
Ivy carried Elara upstairs to draw a warm bath and try to soothe the traumatized girl.
Rowan sat in his dark home office, staring at the wall and trying to process the betrayal.

The screen flashed to a heavily edited, soundless clip of Elara crying and thrashing in a chair.
The editing made it look like Elara was having a violent, uncontrollable meltdown.
The clip showed Ivy rushing into the room and grabbing Elara aggressively by the arm.
The video had been manipulated perfectly to make Ivy look like an abusive, terrifying monster.
Selene had posted the video from an anonymous account with a horrific caption.
The caption claimed that Ivy was a deranged stepmother who was torturing her innocent daughter.
Rowan could not breathe as he watched the view count on the video climb past one million.
His phone began to ring endlessly with calls from angry clients, confused relatives, and aggressive reporters.
Selene had decided that if she was going down, she was going to destroy Rowan’s entire life first.
Rowan immediately opened his email to download the original, unedited video to clear Ivy’s name.
