Chapter 2 - The False Victim

Four heavily armed police officers burst through the front door of the mansion.
Mark immediately stepped forward with his hands raised to explain the situation.
Before he could speak, Victoria ripped the sleeve of her own expensive silk blouse.
She threw herself onto the marble floor and began to sob uncontrollably.
"He attacked me," Victoria screamed, pointing a trembling finger directly at Mark.
"He and his mistress were trying to take my baby away," she cried.
The lead officer drew his taser and aimed it squarely at Mark's chest.
"Get down on the ground right now, Mr. Vance," the officer ordered aggressively.
Elena gasped in horror and tried to step between Mark and the police.
"You have it all wrong," Elena pleaded.
"She was the one who attacked us!"
An officer grabbed Elena by the arm and roughly pulled her aside.
Billy cried hysterically as two officers tackled his father to the floor.
They slammed heavy steel handcuffs onto Mark's wrists.
Victoria stood up, dusting off her skirt with a sickening smirk of triumph.
She walked over to the terrified little boy and grabbed him tightly by the wrist.
"Mommy has you now, sweetie," she purred, her fingernails digging into his skin.
Mark struggled against the officers, his heart breaking as he watched his son being dragged away.
"Don't let her take him, Elena!" Mark yelled as he was hauled out the door.
Elena was left completely alone in the silent, empty foyer.
She knew she had to find the security camera footage to prove Mark's innocence.
She ran to the master control room hidden behind the library bookshelf.
She typed in the password and frantically pulled up the living room feed.
The screen displayed a loud, static-filled error message.
Someone had intentionally wiped the entire hard drive just ten minutes before Victoria arrived.
Elena backed away from the desk in despair.
Suddenly, she remembered the secret nanny-cam she had sewn into Billy's stuffed bear earlier that morning.
She pulled out her phone to connect to the hidden camera's live feed.
The video finally loaded on her screen, showing a dark and moving background.

Victoria's voice echoed clearly through the phone speaker.
"Once we cross the border, you will never see your pathetic father again," Victoria whispered.
