Chapter 10 - The New Dawn

Two months later, the Chicago skyline sparkled beautifully under a warm September sun.

I stood on the balcony of my new penthouse, sipping expensive scotch without a single tremor in my hand.

The poison was completely gone from my system, and Vanessa was serving a life sentence in a black site prison.

I turned around and smiled warmly as Natalia walked into the spacious living room.

Her shoulder had healed perfectly, and she looked absolutely more beautiful than ever.

Lily ran happily past her, wearing that same old Cubs cap, laughing loudly as she chased our new puppy.

We were a real family now, united completely by blood, fire, and survival.

My massive empire was stronger than ever, completely unchallenged after the absolute fall of the Volkovs.

I wrapped my arms gently around Natalia from behind, resting my chin comfortably on her shoulder.

"You look so happy today," she murmured affectionately, leaning safely into my embrace.

"I finally have absolutely everything I ever wanted," I replied truthfully, kissing her cheek.

We stood there peacefully, enjoying the absolute tranquility of our perfect, hard-won happily ever after.

But as Natalia walked away to help Lily with her toys, I checked my encrypted phone one last time.

A highly secure message had just arrived from an unknown, untraceable international number.

It contained a single audio file, and I clicked play out of sheer, undeniable curiosity.

The chilling voice on the recording belonged to my father, a man who supposedly died ten years ago in a fiery car crash.

"Good job cleaning up those Russians, son, but I'm coming home tomorrow, and I want my throne back."
