Chapter 7 - The Grave Secret
The mercenary commander solemnly informed me that the rescued woman was a surgically altered imposter.
He explained that my real mother had actually been missing and presumed dead for over five years.
I dropped the laptop onto the floor as a terrifying new reality began to take shape.
Julian had orchestrated a massive illusion to keep me compliant while he slowly stole my empire.
He had faked her medical records and hired an actress to ensure I never looked too closely at his actions.
Elena gently picked up the laptop and ran a deep decryption program on Vance’s banking codes.
She successfully broke through the firewall and accessed the true financial records of Mercer Holdings.
The stolen corporate money was not being deposited into Julian’s personal accounts at all.
The funds were actually being transferred directly to a notorious private military contractor based in Brooklyn.
Julian was using my legitimate fortune to build a massive mercenary army right in my own city.
I realized that his ultimate goal was to completely overthrow the criminal underworld and rule as a king.
Marco looked over Elena’s shoulder and studied the hidden encrypted files.
He noticed a highly classified genetic testing report buried deep within the corporate archives.
Marco clicked on the file and gasped as he read the official medical results.
Julian was not actually my brother by blood.
The DNA test proved that Julian was the illegitimate son of my father’s greatest criminal rival.
My father had unknowingly adopted the child of the man who had ordered his assassination.
Julian had spent his entire life planning to destroy the Mercer family from the inside out.

My secure communication device suddenly chirped with an incoming call from Julian himself.
He laughed into the receiver and demanded that I bring Elena to him tonight.
