Chapter 7 - The Live Broadcast

My hands flew across the glowing control panel as I initiated the live broadcast sequence.
Within seconds, the high-definition security cameras in the ballroom were streaming directly to the internet.
Millions of followers on the Vale and Blackwood corporate pages received an instant notification.
I grabbed the control room microphone, taking a deep breath to steady my racing, terrified heart.
"My name is Lena Vale, and the local police are currently helping Arthur Blackwood cover up a murder," my voice boomed through the ballroom speakers.
Arthur dropped his champagne glass in sheer panic, staring wildly at the ceiling speakers.
The live feed clearly displayed Arthur holding the stolen flash drive and standing over the bloody crime scene.
"He just shot his own son, and the corrupt officers arrested my innocent father to protect him," I continued broadcasting.
The internet exploded instantly, with thousands of comments and shares flooding the screen in real-time.
Arthur screamed at his mercenaries to break down the heavy door of the control booth immediately.
They began smashing their assault rifles against the reinforced glass, cracking it with every brutal blow.
But the damage was already permanently done to Arthur's meticulously crafted criminal empire.
He could not bribe his way out of a crime that was currently trending worldwide on every major platform.
Vivian stood up from the floor, her expensive silver gown completely ruined by her son's dark blood.
She stared at the massive projection screen on the wall, watching the horrific replay of her husband shooting Ethan.
A dark, terrifying realization completely shattered the last remaining pieces of her sanity.
She realized that Arthur was going to abandon her, let Ethan die, and take all their hidden money.
Vivian slowly walked over to the discarded silver handgun that my father's guard had kicked away earlier.
She picked it up with trembling hands, her eyes locked onto Arthur with absolute, murderous intent.
Arthur turned around just as Vivian raised the heavy weapon and aimed it directly at his chest.
"You destroyed my son, Arthur," Vivian whispered, her voice echoing perfectly through the live microphone feed.
She pulled the trigger without a single moment of hesitation.

Arthur gasped in sudden agony as the bullet tore through his shoulder, sending him crashing to the floor.
Before Vivian could fire a second shot, the main doors of the country club were completely blown off their hinges.
