Chapter 6 - The Corrupt Arrest

The corrupt police officer aggressively grabbed my father's wrists, forcing them roughly behind his back.

I screamed in absolute outrage, refusing to let them take the only man who had tried to protect us.

"He didn't shoot anyone!" I yelled, pointing directly at Arthur. "That monster shot his own son!"

The lead officer did not even look at me, his face remaining entirely devoid of any human empathy.

He clicked the heavy steel handcuffs into place and ordered his men to disarm my father's loyal security team.

Arthur slowly climbed to his feet, adjusting his ruined tuxedo jacket with a smug, victorious grin.

"I told you, Richard, money buys much more than just real estate," Arthur sneered triumphantly.

Vivian was still sobbing hysterically over Ethan's body, completely ignoring her husband's horrific betrayal.

The medical team finally arrived, pushing past the corrupt cops to load Ethan onto a stretcher.

I watched helplessly as they rushed Ethan out of the ballroom, his life hanging by a rapidly fraying thread.

My father looked at me with deep, reassuring eyes before they forcefully dragged him toward the exit.

"Stay strong, Lena, and remember exactly who you are," my father commanded before disappearing into the hallway.

I was left completely alone in the center of the chaotic ballroom, surrounded by enemies.

Arthur walked over to the dessert table, casually picking up a crystal glass of champagne.

He raised the glass to the terrified crowd, offering a mock toast to his own brilliant, twisted victory.

He pulled a small, silver flash drive from his pocket, tossing it playfully in the air.

"This drive contains the access codes to all of Vivian's hidden offshore accounts," Arthur announced to the room.

He planned to take all the money, frame my father for the shooting, and disappear into the night.

I realized that nobody was coming to save me, so I had to save myself and clear my father's name.

I slowly backed away into the shadows of the stage, my eyes locked on the country club's massive audio-visual control booth.

I knew exactly how to use the venue's high-tech broadcasting equipment because I had planned the entire engagement party myself.

I slipped behind the heavy velvet curtains and quickly locked the soundproof door of the control room.

I booted up the main computer and connected the ballroom's security cameras directly to the club's public social media accounts.
