Chapter 7 - The Sins of the Father

Clara watched the betrayal from the balcony, her expression unreadable.

Julian was hauled to his feet, bruised and hyperventilating. He stared up at her with pure, unadulterated hatred. "You took my company. You took my money. Now open the doors, you b*tch!"

Clara shook her head slowly. "You misunderstand, Julian. I didn't come here just for your money. I came here for a confession."

She tapped her tablet. A new file appeared on the screen. It wasn't a bank statement. It was a coroner’s report.

"Ten years ago, my father, Arthur Vance, supposedly took his own life after his company went bankrupt," Clara said, her voice shaking for the first time, raw with emotion. "But he didn't jump off that bridge, did he, Julian?"

Julian froze. His blood ran cold.

"The police ruled it a suicide because you bought the police," Clara continued, broadcasting an audio file. It was a recording of a man pleading for his life, followed by a struggle, and then... silence.

"That is your voice, Julian," Clara said. "Ordering your private security to throw him over the edge. You didn't just steal his company. You murdered him."

The remaining billionaires in the room recoiled from Julian in absolute horror. Embezzlement was one thing. Cold-blooded murder was another entirely.

"It's a deepfake!" Julian screamed frantically. "She fabricated it!"

"The FBI doesn't think so," Clara said softly.
