Chapter 10 - The Fall of the Gods

"I leave you to the authorities, Julian," Clara’s voice echoed from the other side of the steel door. "Enjoy your cage."

Ten minutes later, the FBI breached the wine cellar. They found Julian Cross screaming, banging his bloody fists against a steel door. They pulled him out, read him his rights, and dragged him up the stairs in handcuffs.

Up in the courtyard, the scene was legendary. The untouchables of society—senators, tycoons, media barons—were being loaded into the back of police transport vans, their heads bowed, their empires shattered. The flashbulbs of the paparazzi, originally there to capture their glory, were now documenting their ultimate downfall.

She opened her phone one last time. She looked at a digital photo of her father, smiling on a boat they used to rent during the summers.

"It's done, Dad," she whispered.
