Chapter 6 - The Betrayal

Julian laughed, a desperate, hollow sound. "You think they’ll betray me? I made them! I made all of you!"
He looked around the room. But nobody was looking at him with respect anymore. They were looking at him like he was a sacrifice.
"Julian," said Marcus, his oldest friend and the COO of Cross Enterprises. "It’s just business."
"Marcus, don't you dare," Julian hissed, stepping down from the table.
"Open your phones!" Marcus yelled to the board members in the room. "The local intranet is still active. Initiate an emergency vote. Article 4 of the bylaws. Immediate termination of the CEO."
"No!" Julian lunged at Marcus, grabbing him by the throat. "I am a god in this city! You are nothing without me!"
Three other billionaires tackled Julian to the marble floor, pinning him down. The savagery of the elite, usually hidden behind closed boardroom doors, was on full physical display. They were fighting for their survival.
