The letter thanked me for providing access to the most secure financial network in the world.
It explained that Elena had used advanced facial mapping software and a recorded audio loop of my voice to bypass the bank.
She needed me in a state of deep, uninterrupted REM sleep so my heart rate monitor would validate the biometric sequence.
Julian’s subsonic weapon had actually been preventing her from stealing my fortune for three entire years.
She had sent Lily into my room to read the storybook specifically to soothe me into compliance.
The child was nothing more than an innocent pawn in a masterfully orchestrated heist.
I crushed the letter in my hand, furious that I had been played by an undercover operative.
I logged into my terminal and tracked the digital footprint of the outgoing transfer.
The funds were currently being routed through a local server located at the private airfield outside the city.
Elena was trying to flee the country with my entire criminal empire’s wealth.
I sprinted back out to the SUV, checked on Lily, and sped toward the airstrip.
I crashed through the wire fence of the airfield just as a small private jet began to taxi down the runway.
