Chapter 7 - The Interrogation

I grabbed Julian by the throat and slammed him against the nearest shipping crate.
I pressed the barrel of my gun directly against his forehead.
I asked him again where he had hidden the little girl’s mother.
Julian struggled to breathe, but the arrogant smile never left his bloody face.
He swore to me that he had absolutely nothing to do with Elena’s disappearance.
He claimed his mercenaries had only grabbed Lily from the bedroom to use as bait.
I tightened my grip, refusing to believe a single word coming from his mouth.
Julian gasped for air and told me to think logically for just one second.
He asked how a simple housekeeper could afford to bypass my billion-dollar security grid.
He pointed out that his subsonic device was purely mechanical, but hacking the cameras required digital clearance.
I froze, realizing that Julian was physically incapable of coding a continuous loop on my surveillance network.
Someone else inside my estate had to have erased the footage and cut the power.
I released Julian’s throat and stepped back, my mind racing through the terrifying implications.
My phone suddenly began to ring, vibrating violently against my chest.
I answered the call, hearing the frantic voice of my offshore financial manager in Switzerland.

The manager informed me that two billion dollars had just been transferred out of my secure accounts.
The transfer had been authorized using my exact biometric retinal scan and my unique vocal signature.
