Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Dawn

Before the pilot could align his sights, the deafening crack of a rifle shot echoed through the cabin.
The pilot collapsed onto the aluminum floor, revealing Marcus Cole standing behind him with a smoking service weapon, having covertly boarded the landing gear before takeoff.
Marcus quickly took the controls in the cockpit, circling the twin-engine aircraft back toward Boston International Airport under federal escort.
By sunrise, the storm had completely dissipated, leaving the Boston skyline gleaming in radiant amber light.
Federal marshals and state police swarmed the runway as the aircraft touched down safely on the tarmac.
Elena Vance was arrested twenty miles away at a roadside motel, soaked in mud, stripped of every asset, and completely abandoned by her conspirators.
She was formally indicted on twenty-two felony counts, including grand larceny, armed kidnapping, corporate espionage, and attempted murder.
Judge Harrison and his corrupt associates were permanently disbarred and remanded to federal custody without the possibility of bail.
With the legal evidence recovered from the Swiss accounts, Arthur restored every single penny to Leo’s trust fund and consolidated his majority control over Vance Enterprises forever.
Julian Sterling surrendered all his corporate holdings to Arthur in exchange for full immunity, leaving Arthur as the undisputed titan of the industry.
Four months later, the Vance estate had been completely rebuilt, its gardens blooming with vibrant white lilies and golden marigolds.
Maria was officially appointed as the head trustee of the Vance Children's Foundation, living in the estate as an honored and beloved family member.
On the sun-drenched terrace overlooking the river, little Leo was laughing brightly, building an enormous wooden block castle beside the fountain.
Arthur walked out onto the marble patio carrying two glasses of fresh lemonade, his heart full of peace for the first time in years.
Leo looked up, flashing a brilliant, toothy smile that lit up the entire garden.
"Daddy, look! I built our house, and nobody can ever break it down!" Leo cheered, pointing at his wooden masterpiece.
Arthur knelt beside his son, wrapping his strong arm around Leo's shoulders and smiling warmly.
"That's right, buddy," Arthur said softly, his voice full of pride.
"Our home is unbreakable."
Arthur walked into his private study later that afternoon to place Leo's restored trust fund certificates inside the newly installed wall safe.
Tucked deep behind the velvet lining of the safe lay a sealed black wax envelope that had never been there before.
Arthur broke the seal and pulled out an official laboratory DNA report dated yesterday from a prestigious medical clinic in Zurich.

The document proved conclusively that Arthur was not Leo's biological father, but rather the brother of an unidentified woman who had vanished six years ago.
Clipped to the bottom was a fresh surveillance photograph of a woman with Arthur's exact eyes standing outside the estate gates, watching little Leo through binoculars.
