Chapter 8 - The Sniper's Mark

The wind howled brutally across the open ledge, making it incredibly difficult for the agent to maintain his grip on Amara.

Amara looked up at her brave savior, her vision blurring as she lost more blood from the gunshot wound.

She whispered for him to let her go, completely unwilling to let Julian murder an innocent officer.

The agent refused stubbornly, tightening his desperate grip until his knuckles turned entirely white.

Julian paced back and forth, waving the silver revolver erratically as he screamed his demands at the remaining police.

He completely ignored his mother, who was currently weeping on the floor in absolute, pathetic defeat.

The distant, rhythmic chopping sound of heavy helicopter blades suddenly echoed through the night sky.

Julian smiled a wicked, triumphant smile, believing his desperate hostage tactic had actually worked.

A massive, black tactical chopper hovered gracefully over the rooftop, blinding Julian with a massive searchlight.

Julian shielded his eyes, keeping his gun leveled firmly at the struggling agent on the ledge.

Suddenly, a bright red laser dot appeared squarely on the center of Julian’s ruined tuxedo shirt.

A highly trained federal sniper in the hovering helicopter had a perfect, unobstructed shot at his heart.

A voice boomed over the helicopter's loud external speaker system, commanding absolute, immediate surrender.

The side door of the chopper slid open, revealing a tall, imposing figure stepping out onto the landing skids.

Julian lowered his weapon in absolute shock, staring at the ghost standing brilliantly in the spotlight.
