Chapter 6 - The Shattered Glass

Julian stared at the glowing phone screen, his entire body trembling in his heavy steel handcuffs.

His father had been buried in a closed casket ceremony two decades ago, yet his name was actively calling Amara.

One of the federal medics rushed onto the rooftop, dropping a trauma kit beside Amara to apply pressure to her chest wound.

The lead federal agent walked over to the ringing phone, his brow furrowing in deep confusion.

The agent swiped the screen to answer the video call, turning the speaker volume to maximum.

A deep, gravelly voice echoed from the phone, sending a terrifying chill down Eleanor's spine as she lay pinned on the ground.

The voice confirmed that the sting operation was a complete success, asking if Amara was safely secured.

Eleanor began to thrash violently against the agents, screaming that it was a cheap trick and a digital fake.

The agent turned the phone screen toward the hysterical woman so she could see the truth for herself.

It was absolutely Arthur Vance, looking twenty years older, sitting safely in a secure federal witness room.

Arthur had faked his own death with the help of a loyal doctor after discovering his wife was slowly poisoning him.

He had spent two decades building an undeniable case to destroy her from the shadows, using Amara as his undercover operative.

Julian began to sob pathetically, realizing his entire life was a lie built on stolen blood money.

Before anyone could process the shocking revelation, a terrifying, sharp cracking sound echoed through the air.

The heavy glass railing directly behind Amara’s bleeding body had been severely damaged by a stray bullet.

With a sickening crunch, the entire glass panel shattered outward into a million pieces.

Amara slipped backward into the empty air, plummeting over the edge of the forty-story building.
