We stood on the sidewalk, looking up at the bright new sign hanging over the entrance of the building.
"The Mia Miller Foundation for Pediatric Rehabilitation," Mia read aloud, spelling out the big letters.
I had liquidated every single legal asset left in my father's legitimate accounts and used the money to open a state-of-the-art physical therapy center for underprivileged children.

I took the envelope, containing the official press release of his conviction, and dropped it into a nearby trash can without even opening it.
"I don't care what happens to him anymore," I said honestly. "He doesn't exist to us."
Vance smiled, nodding in respect before heading back out into the bustling city streets.
I watched Mia run over to a young boy who was struggling to balance on his new crutches.

For the first time in my entire life, I felt truly, unconditionally at peace.
