Chapter 9 - The Fight for Survival

Emily did not hesitate or wait for him to pull the trigger.

She kicked her boots upward, sweeping Vance’s legs out from under him in a lightning-fast motion.

The gun fired into the ceiling, the suppressed shot completely muffled by the roaring engines outside.

Vance crashed to the floor, but he quickly recovered and lunged at her with brutal military precision.

He punched her hard in the jaw, tasting blood as her head snapped backward.

Emily used his forward momentum against him, grabbing his arm and throwing him over her shoulder.

He smashed into a rack of sensitive computer servers, sending sparks showering across the dark bay.

She scrambled to her feet and pinned him to the floor, pressing her forearm aggressively against his throat.

"How do I turn off the drone's magnetic clamps?" she screamed over the deafening noise.

Vance laughed weakly, blood dripping from his nose onto his expensive suit collar.

He slowly unbuttoned his shirt, revealing a complex digital monitor wired directly to his chest.

"The EMP device is biologically linked to my active heart rate," Vance choked out.

Emily’s eyes widened in sheer horror as she realized the true extent of his evil plan.

"If I die, or if my heart stops beating for even ten seconds, the EMP detonates automatically," he explained.

If she killed him right now, the entire plane would instantly lose power and plunge into the sea.

Vance suddenly reached into his pocket and pulled out a small medical syringe filled with a cloudy liquid.

Before she could stop him, he violently stabbed the needle directly into his own leg and injected the toxin.

"Now you have to save my life if you want to save your passengers," Vance smiled maliciously.

His eyes immediately rolled back into his head, and his body went entirely limp as his heart began to fail.
