Chapter 8 - The Sabotage

The piercing sound of the drills tearing through metal sent the passengers into a state of absolute panic.
Emily engaged the manual trim wheels, setting the damaged plane on a fragile, straight flight path.
She could not leave the cockpit for long, but she had to sever the drone's physical connection.
She grabbed a heavy fire axe from the emergency bulkhead and stepped out of the flight deck.
"Barricade the doors and put on your oxygen masks immediately," she commanded the terrified flight attendants.
Emily knew that the drone's magnetic clamps were controlled by a localized digital tether located in the plane's lower avionics bay.
She rushed to the floor hatch hidden beneath the carpet near the front galley.
She pulled the heavy metal ring and climbed down the narrow ladder into the pitch-black belly of the aircraft.
The avionics bay was freezing cold and deafeningly loud due to the rushing wind outside the hull.
She turned on her small emergency flashlight, scanning the complex maze of wires and computer servers.
She needed to find the external sensor relay and chop it in half with her axe.
As she moved deeper into the cramped space, a shadow shifted in the darkness.
A heavy boot suddenly kicked her forcefully in the chest, sending her crashing into a steel support beam.
Emily gasped for air, dropping her flashlight as she fell to the metal grate floor.
The emergency emergency lights flickered on, revealing Colonel Vance standing over her.
He was holding a suppressed military pistol aimed directly at her forehead.

"You are incredibly resourceful, Emily, but this test has officially concluded," Vance said coldly.
He pulled the hammer of the gun back, preparing to execute her in the dark.
