Chapter 6 - Desperate Measures

"It's a forgery!" Victoria lunged for the documents, her perfectly manicured nails clawing at the paper.

Caldwell snatched them away just in time. "These documents are notarized by the Supreme Court Chief Justice, Victoria. It is bulletproof. The evidence attached includes audio recordings of you bribing harbor officials the night Julian 'disappeared.'"

Victoria backed away, her chest heaving. She realized she was trapped in a titanium room with the very people who held the power to destroy her. But Victoria Vance did not become the queen of Wall Street by surrendering.

She bolted for the vault door, shoving the frail bank manager aside. She sprinted down the corridor, dialing her security chief. "Execute Plan B! Now! Wipe the servers and get the chopper to the roof of the depository!"

Back in the vault, Caldwell looked at Julian. "Are you alright, son?"

Julian picked up the thick file of evidence. "She thinks she can run. Grandpa said she would try that."

Julian pulled out a secondary piece of paper from the bottom of the lockbox. It was a list of IP addresses and passwords. "Call the FBI, Mr. Caldwell. Grandpa already bugged her private jet and her offshore accounts. If she tries to move the money, it flags the federal reserve."

Caldwell smiled for the first time in a decade. "Your grandfather was a paranoid, brilliant man. And he taught you well."
