Chapter 8 - The Final Struggle

Jack stared down the barrel of the assault rifle, realizing he had walked directly into a brilliant trap.
Marcus had used a simple audio recording of a crying child to lure him perfectly out into the open.
"The real container is heavily guarded at the bottom of the cargo hold," Marcus gloated.
He kept his finger firmly on the trigger, savoring his ultimate victory over the billionaire.
"You will die here, and your money will fund my new empire across the ocean."
Jack slowly raised his hands, his mind racing to find any possible architectural advantage on the ship.
He noticed the heavy crane hook dangling dangerously directly above Marcus's head.
The control panel for the crane was located just three feet to Jack's left.
Jack did not hesitate.
He violently threw himself to the side, smashing his fist directly into the crane's emergency release button.
Marcus fired a burst of bullets, but they sparked harmlessly against the steel wall where Jack had just been standing.
The massive, iron crane hook plummeted from the sky with terrifying speed.
It smashed violently into the deck right next to Marcus, sending shockwaves that knocked the traitor off his feet.
Marcus dropped his rifle, sliding across the wet, slippery metal of the ship's deck.
Jack lunged forward, tackling Marcus before he could recover his weapon.
The two men fought brutally in the freezing rain, exchanging heavy, bone-crushing punches.
Marcus grabbed a rusted iron pipe and swung it viciously, striking Jack hard in the ribs.
Jack gasped in pain, but he used the momentum to sweep Marcus's legs out from under him.
Marcus hit the deck hard, and Jack pinned him down, pressing his forearm tightly against the traitor's throat.
"Where is she?" Jack roared, his eyes filled with murderous intent.
Marcus choked and sputtered, pointing a shaking finger toward the lower cargo hatch.
"Level three, sector B," Marcus gasped out.
Jack delivered one final, devastating punch that knocked Marcus completely unconscious.

He grabbed the dropped assault rifle and sprinted toward the stairs leading down into the dark belly of the ship.
As he opened the heavy hatch, a loud, mechanical alarm began shrieking throughout the entire vessel.
