Chapter 2 - The Billionaire's Resources

Jack returned to his empty mansion with a fire reignited in his soul.

He was no longer the broken, grieving architect hiding from the world.

He was a billionaire with limitless resources, and he was going to find his daughter.

He walked into his private study and booted up a secure computer terminal.

Jack typed the rusted sedan's license plate number into a private database he paid millions to access.

The screen loaded for a few agonizing seconds before displaying a name and an address.

The car was registered to a woman named Sarah Miller.

The address was located in the Narrows, the most dangerous, gang-controlled district in the city.

Jack did not hesitate to put on his heaviest coat and retrieve a sleek pistol from his safe.

He drove his armored SUV across town, watching the scenery shift from pristine skyscrapers to crumbling apartment buildings.

He parked half a block away from Sarah's address and walked through the freezing drizzle.

The apartment door was slightly ajar, hanging weakly on its broken hinges.

Jack pushed it open, his hand gripping the cold steel of the weapon in his pocket.

The tiny living room was completely trashed, with furniture overturned and clothes scattered everywhere.

"Sarah?" Jack called out, his voice echoing in the gloomy space.

There was no answer, but he heard a faint scratching sound coming from the bedroom.

Jack stepped carefully over the debris, pushing the bedroom door wide open.

Sarah was not there, but a massive man covered in gang tattoos was waiting in the shadows.

The man smiled, revealing a row of silver teeth as he pointed a heavy shotgun directly at Jack's chest.

"The boss said the billionaire would come running, and here you are," the thug sneered.
