Chapter 8 - The burning harbor

I slammed Marcus violently against the vehicle again, demanding to know exactly where he had taken my daughter.

He spat dark blood onto the wet pavement and laughed right in my face.

He told me she was waiting at the old, abandoned industrial shipping docks down by the harbor.

I left him securely tied to the steering wheel and ordered my men to drive back to the city at top speed.

The rain poured relentlessly as we finally arrived at a massive, decaying warehouse sitting right on the edge of the dark water.

I told the mercenaries to wait outside on high alert while I entered the dark building entirely alone.

The rusted metal doors creaked loudly as I stepped cautiously into the pitch-black shadows.

I saw Lily tied to a heavy wooden chair right in the center of the massive, empty room.

I ran toward her, frantically cutting the thick ropes with my sharp pocket knife.

She wrapped her tiny, trembling arms around my neck, sobbing uncontrollably into my wet shoulder.

I picked her up tightly and turned back toward the exit, ready to bring her home.

Suddenly, the heavy metal doors slammed completely shut with a deafening, terrifying metallic echo.

The strong, distinct smell of gasoline flooded the enclosed space in a matter of seconds.

A mechanical voice echoed ominously over a hidden speaker system, telling me I should have never challenged the family legacy.

Bright orange flames instantly erupted along the walls, completely trapping us inside the rapidly burning warehouse.
