Chapter 2 - The Morning Audit

The morning sun crept through the blinds of my VIP hospital suite.
I had not slept a single minute during the long and agonizing night.
My laptop remained open on the tray table as I monitored the internal network of Core Dynamics.
Arthur Thorne had followed my instructions flawlessly.
At exactly eight in the morning, a team of independent corporate investigators entered the regional office.
Julian strutted into the lobby at eight fifteen with a cup of expensive coffee in his hand.
I watched him through the live feed of the company security cameras.
He looked incredibly smug, completely unaware that his entire career was currently collapsing.
Two men in dark suits approached him before he could even reach the elevator bank.
They flashed their corporate identification badges and confiscated his company laptop on the spot.
Julian’s face turned a violent shade of red as he began screaming at the men in the lobby.
He loudly demanded to speak to the global CEO and threatened to fire everyone in the building.
I turned on the audio feed just in time to hear the lead investigator deliver the bad news.
The investigator informed Julian that he was officially suspended without pay pending a massive fraud review.
Julian panicked and immediately reached for his cell phone to call his secret mistress.
He needed the lead financial auditor to manipulate the records and save his skin.
I smiled as I watched him dial her number over and over again with trembling hands.
He had no idea that I had already dealt with her before the sun even came up.
At three in the morning, I had sent a secure message to the mistress with undeniable proof of Julian’s crimes.
I also informed her that Aurora Capital was prepared to press federal charges against anyone who helped him.
She had immediately packed her bags and boarded a flight to Europe to escape the fallout.
Julian finally realized she was ignoring his calls, and he kicked a lobby trash can in frustration.
He stormed out of the building and ordered a taxi to take him back to our Gold Coast mansion.
He was desperately hoping to retrieve the hidden safe full of cash he kept in his home office.
I switched the camera feed from the corporate lobby to the front gates of my estate.
Julian stepped out of the taxi and aggressively punched his access code into the security keypad.
The iron gates flashed a bright red light and emitted a loud rejection buzz.
He tried the code three more times before screaming curses into the crisp morning air.
My estate manager stepped out of the guardhouse with a polite but dangerous smile.
He calmly handed Julian a court-approved restraining order signed by a local judge.
Julian ripped the paper to shreds and tried to climb over the wrought iron fence.
That was the exact moment a police cruiser slowly pulled up to the curb behind him.
The officer stepped out of the vehicle and placed his hand firmly on his weapon.
He asked Julian to step away from the private property immediately.
Julian spun around with a wild look in his eyes and pointed a trembling finger at the house.
May you like
He screamed that he was the master of the estate and could do whatever he wanted.
The police officer pulled out a pair of steel handcuffs and informed Julian he was under arrest for trespassing.
