Chapter 7 - The Kill Switch

The presence of the hospital security guards instantly shifted the power dynamic in the crowded room.

They firmly ordered both Arthur and Adrian to step entirely away from my hospital bed.

Arthur arrogantly tried to pull rank, shouting that he was a major donor to this medical facility and demanded respect.

One of the security guards stepped closer, completely unfazed by the billionaire's empty bluster.

He calmly informed Arthur that the local police were not here for a simple noise complaint.

The authorities were currently waiting in the lobby with federal warrants issued directly by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Arthur’s arrogant expression finally crumbled into an incredibly desperate, hollow look of absolute defeat.

He looked frantically at the shattered pieces of his cell phone on the floor, realizing he was completely cut off from his legal fixers.

Adrian suddenly scrambled up from the floor, his eyes wild with an intense, manic desperation.

He realized that if Arthur went down for corporate fraud, he would absolutely be dragged down as a co-conspirator.

Adrian aggressively charged toward my bedside table, desperately trying to steal the red folder containing the financial evidence.

Before he could even touch the paperwork, Sarah swiftly pulled the folder back and slammed her briefcase shut.

The two security guards instantly tackled Adrian from behind, driving him hard into the cold linoleum floor.

Adrian struggled wildly against their grip, screaming my name and begging me to destroy the evidence.

I looked down at the pathetic man pinned to the floor in his ruined wedding tuxedo.

I told him that his reckless greed had finally destroyed the one thing he loved more than himself.

Celeste watched her new husband being restrained and slowly took off her expensive diamond engagement ring.

She tossed the massive diamond onto the floor right next to Adrian's face, announcing that she was filing for an annulment immediately.

She picked up the heavy skirt of her ivory gown and marched right past her stunned father.

Without looking back, Celeste walked out of the hospital room and completely disappeared down the quiet corridor.

Arthur watched his daughter leave, entirely abandoned by the only family member who had still tolerated him.

He turned his furious, bloodshot eyes toward me one last time.

He swore that he would spend every last dime he had left to ensure I never saw a single penny of my company's profits.

I smiled warmly at him and softly stroked my sleeping baby's head.

I revealed that I didn't actually need the company's profits anymore because I had already activated the corporate kill switch.

Arthur froze in the doorway, demanding to know what kind of kill switch I was talking about.

Sarah proudly explained that my original investment contract included a poison pill protocol designed specifically for hostile takeovers.

By invoking my emergency veto rights, all of the company's vital patents were instantly and irreversibly transferred to a private trust.

That completely untouchable trust was now solely owned by the newborn baby girl resting peacefully in my arms.
