Chapter 6 - The Ultimate Betrayal

Arthur Whitmore’s confident posture shattered the exact moment he saw the offshore routing numbers.
He stared at the red folder in my hands as if it were a live grenade completely ready to detonate.
He aggressively demanded to know how I had acquired his private corporate intelligence files.
I calmly explained that when I audited Adrian’s company to prepare my injunction, I traced the origin of his hidden debts.
The paper trail led directly to a series of shell companies controlled entirely by the Whitmore enterprise.
Arthur had been secretly bankrupting Adrian’s business for months just to force him into this desperate merger.
Celeste gasped loudly, turning her horrified gaze from her disgraced husband to her powerful father.
She asked Arthur if it was true that he had intentionally destroyed Adrian’s company just to buy it for pennies.
Arthur snapped at his daughter to remain silent and not to interfere in adult business matters.
Adrian finally realized the massive scope of the betrayal and lunged aggressively at his new father-in-law.
He grabbed Arthur by the lapels of his expensive tuxedo, screaming that the billionaire had completely ruined his life.
Arthur easily shoved the younger man away, knocking Adrian hard against the heavy wooden door frame.
Arthur coldly adjusted his suit jacket and told Adrian that he was nothing more than a useful, gullible idiot.
He admitted that he only permitted the wedding to ensure Adrian remained utterly dependent on Whitmore money.
Adrian slid down the wall, putting his face in his hands as his entire world completely collapsed.
I watched the two corrupt men tear each other apart, feeling a profound sense of closure.
I looked at Arthur and told him that copies of these financial documents were already securely scheduled to be emailed to the SEC at midnight.
Arthur’s face turned an unhealthy shade of purple as his rage completely consumed him.
He frantically reached into his tuxedo jacket and pulled out his encrypted smartphone.
He desperately dialed his crisis management team, barking rapid orders to completely scrub his offshore servers.
Sarah politely interrupted him, tapping her wristwatch with a confident smile.
She informed the panicking billionaire that the automated email had actually been scheduled for eleven-thirty.
Arthur froze, his phone halfway to his ear, as the terrifying reality washed over him.
He looked up at the hospital room wall clock, which clearly displayed the time as eleven-forty-five.
The federal authorities already possessed absolute proof of his massive wire fraud and corporate extortion schemes.
Arthur let out a primal scream of frustration and violently hurled his expensive phone against the hospital wall.
The device shattered into dozens of pieces, completely scattering across the sterile linoleum floor.

Suddenly, two large, uniformed hospital security guards stepped firmly into the doorway.
They placed their hands heavily on their utility belts and announced that the police had just arrived in the hospital lobby.
