Chapter 5 - The Kidnapping

I stared intensely at the bright screen in absolute horror as Daniel waved cheerfully and mockingly right at the camera.
"You really have a incredibly lovely home, Frank," Daniel sneered, looking directly and deeply into the camera lens.
My father violently grabbed the phone right from my shaking hands, his face completely pale with burning, intense rage.
"If you absolutely touch anything in my house, I will personally end you," my father promised with a dark, deadly tone.
Daniel simply laughed a cold, highly arrogant laugh and ended the video call without saying another single word.
We quickly left the masked thug groaning loudly in the alley and sprinted desperately back to the rusty truck.
My father drove exactly like a madman, aggressively and violently swerving through the busy, chaotic city traffic.
We completely broke every single traffic law and speed limit trying to desperately reach his house in the quiet suburbs.
My terrified heart hammered violently against my sore ribs for the entire agonizing, incredibly terrifying drive.
We finally screeched to a halt right in the paved driveway and rushed aggressively toward the wooden front door.
The heavy oak door had been brutally and violently kicked open, the thick wooden frame completely and utterly splintered.
We cautiously stepped into the highly quiet hallway, the hardwood floor completely littered with incredibly sharp, broken glass.
The once cozy living room was completely destroyed, every single piece of antique furniture flipped and violently slashed.
My father's incredibly extensive collection of self-defense training weapons was completely missing from the empty walls.
"Daniel!" I screamed at the absolute top of my lungs, but the large house remained eerily and terrifyingly silent.
We frantically searched every single room, deeply praying we would find some small clue deliberately left behind.
I walked cautiously into the kitchen and found my father's loyal German Shepherd violently whimpering in total fear.
The poor, terrified dog had been locked very tightly inside the small, incredibly cramped laundry room.
I quickly let the dog out and noticed a heavily folded piece of crisp paper sitting directly on the kitchen counter.
I slowly opened the crisp white paper with severely trembling, highly terrified hands.
It was a highly detailed map of the city waterfront, with a large red circle drawn heavily around a specific warehouse.
There was a very messy, handwritten message scrawled deeply across the bottom of the map in thick black ink.
"Come entirely alone in exactly one hour, or your father's dog won't be the absolute only thing violently crying."
I quickly turned around to show my highly trained father the terrifying, deadly ransom note in my hands.

I suddenly realized that the hallway directly behind me was completely, utterly, and terrifyingly empty.
My father had silently and inexplicably disappeared from the house while I was deeply distracted checking the kitchen.
