Chapter 8 - The Underworld Queen

The impact of the bullet threw me backward onto the cold concrete floor.

I stared up at the catwalk in absolute disbelief as blood rapidly stained my white shirt.

Marcus, the man I trusted with my life for fifteen years, stood beside Patricia with a cold smirk.

"I am sorry, boss," Marcus said, looking down at me without a single shred of remorse.

"Patricia offered me half the Navarro cartel to help her destroy you."

He had fed her the security codes, disabled the bunker defenses, and orchestrated the fake kidnapping.

I coughed up a mouthful of blood, struggling desperately to keep my eyes open.

Patricia walked gracefully down the rusted staircase to retrieve the fallen ledger.

She stood over my bleeding body, raising her golden gun to deliver the execution shot.

"Say hello to Madeline for me," Patricia mocked, her finger tightening on the trigger.

Suddenly, a stolen police cruiser crashed violently through the closed warehouse doors.

The vehicle smashed directly into a concrete support pillar, bringing a section of the catwalk crashing down.

Clara kicked the cruiser's door open, wielding a fully automatic military assault rifle.

She unleashed a devastating hail of bullets, cutting down the remaining cartel guards instantly.

Marcus tried to return fire, but Clara shot him twice in the chest, ending his treacherous life forever.

Patricia dove behind a stack of wooden shipping crates, screaming in frustration as her plan unraveled.

Clara rushed to my side, applying immense pressure to the bleeding wound on my chest.

"I hid the girls at the old church, they are completely safe," Clara whispered fiercely.

Before I could thank her, Patricia emerged from the shadows holding a dead-man's switch connected to a vest of explosives.

"If I die today, we all die today!" Patricia screamed, her eyes wide with psychotic fury.
