Chapter 5 - The Ransom Room

Elias stood his ground, the heavy gold statue resting in his grip like a deadly weapon.

The mercenaries kept their weapons raised, their faces hidden behind black tactical masks.

"I will never sign anything under a threat to my daughter," Elias stated with absolute authority.

The lead mercenary cocked his weapon, a sharp metallic click echoing in the tense room.

"You do not have a choice, Mr. Thorne," the man replied.

Arthur silently moved to the left, trying to draw their attention away from the back of the room where Lily was hiding.

Marcus was trembling, pressing his back against the wall to make himself as small as possible.

"Just sign it, Elias, they are going to kill us all!" Marcus cried out in pure terror.

Elias ignored the coward, taking a slow step toward the lead mercenary.

"Show me the document," Elias demanded, buying time for his tactical mind to find a flaw in their plan.

The mercenary lowered his weapon slightly and tossed the crumpled paper onto the floor.

Elias picked it up, scanning the legal text with rapid precision.

A small, knowing smile appeared on Elias's face, completely confusing the armed men.

"Julian is smart, but he always misses the most crucial details," Elias said confidently.

He ripped the transfer document into tiny pieces, letting them fall like snow onto the floor.

The mercenaries tensed up, ready to fire at any second.

"What did you just do?" the leader barked angrily.

"I cannot sign away the company, because I do not legally own it anymore," Elias revealed.

The room fell deadly silent.

Elias looked back at the large vault where his daughter was hiding with Vanessa.

"I transferred all my shares into a blind trust under Lily's name three years ago," Elias explained.

The mercenaries realized their mistake, looking at each other in sudden panic.

"Then we take the girl," the leader shouted, raising his weapon toward the vault.
