Chapter 10 - The Promise

The nightmare was finally over, and the morning sun broke through the shattered windows of the jewelry store.
Paramedics secured Arthur onto a stretcher, assuring Elias that the old friend would make a full recovery.
Vanessa stood by the ambulances, wrapped in a thermal blanket and looking completely exhausted.
Elias walked over to her, his expression softening with genuine gratitude.
"You saved my daughter today, Vanessa. When this store reopens, you are the new general manager," Elias promised.
Vanessa covered her mouth, tears of joy streaming down her face as she nodded in thanks.
Elias turned back to Lily, who was sitting safely on the bumper of a police car.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, perfect velvet box he had secured during the chaos.
He opened it, revealing a stunning, delicate diamond necklace shaped like a tiny star.
"Happy birthday, my little princess," Elias smiled warmly.
Lily gasped, her eyes lighting up just like they did when they first walked into the store.
She hugged him tightly, the fear of the day completely washed away by her father's love.
Elias finally had his company back, his enemies were in jail, and his daughter was safe and happy.
Everything was exactly as it should be.
Later that night, Elias gently tucked Lily into her warm bed, smiling at her peaceful face as she slept.
He quietly closed her bedroom door and walked down the long hallway to his private study.
He sat at his heavy oak desk and opened the classified police file detailing the mercenaries' wire transfer.
