Chapter 7 - The Oxygen Tank

Liam stood perfectly relaxed, looking entirely out of place in a perfectly tailored navy suit amidst the construction dust.

He looked down at his bleeding, semi-conscious brother with an expression of profound pity and absolute disgust.

Norah kept her weapon aimed directly at Liam's chest, her hands trembling violently under his cold gaze.

Liam chuckled softly, raising his hands in a mocking gesture of surrender.

He explained that Marcus was just a hired dog, but the true mastermind behind the coup had always been family.

Liam confessed that he had authorized the waste management spreadsheet to funnel millions into his own offshore accounts.

He wanted the empire for himself, completely tired of living in the massive shadow of his older, smarter brother.

He looked at Norah, offering her a very simple, deadly business proposition.

He promised to let her walk out of the building alive if she simply lowered the gun and walked away right now.

He claimed that an accountant with a sick mother did not need to die defending a corpse.

Norah glanced down at Declan, remembering the unbreakable promise he had just whispered to her in the dark.

She looked past Liam, her analytical mind calculating the variables of the room with absolute precision.

Directly behind Liam, resting near a massive welding station, were three large, highly pressurized oxygen tanks.

She knew a direct shot at Liam would only result in his mercenaries gunning her down immediately afterward.

She lowered the gun slightly, pretending to surrender to Liam's terrifying logic.

Liam smiled triumphantly, taking a confident step forward to claim his ultimate victory.

Norah suddenly whipped the gun to the right and fired two rapid shots directly at the brass valves of the oxygen tanks.

The bullets shattered the pressurized valves, causing the heavy metal cylinders to instantly explode with catastrophic force.

A massive fireball completely engulfed the welding station, blowing the plastic tarps into a million burning pieces.

The shockwave picked Liam up and threw him violently backward into his own mercenaries.

Debris and thick black smoke filled the entire floor, creating a chaotic, blinding hellscape.

Norah dropped the empty handgun and grabbed Declan under his arms, dragging him fiercely toward the emergency exit stairs.
