Chapter 5 - The Midnight Breach

The underground garage was completely silent, filled with the heavy scent of motor oil and damp concrete.
Valeria stared at Julian in absolute disbelief, entirely convinced that he had lost his mind.
"You want me to break into a highly secured corporate building wearing a torn wedding dress?" she asked incredulously.
"I have a change of clothes in the trunk, and my security team has already bypassed the building's exterior cameras," Julian replied smoothly.
Elena immediately shook her head, terrified of the massive legal consequences her daughter was about to face.
"Valeria, this is incredibly dangerous, you could go to federal prison for corporate espionage!" Elena warned desperately.
Valeria looked down at her ruined ivory dress, remembering the exact moment Mauricio had ripped it.
He had expected her to be completely helpless, to cry, to fold under his immense pressure.
"He stole my entire life's work, Mom," Valeria said, her voice hardening with newfound resolve.
"I am not going to sit back and let him completely destroy my future just because I am afraid of him."
Ten minutes later, Valeria was dressed in a dark tactical jacket and black jeans provided by Julian's security team.
They arrived at the towering glass skyscraper that housed Mauricio's massive investment firm.
The night was pitch black, and the heavy rain masked the sound of their quick footsteps across the wet pavement.
Julian used a cloned keycard to effortlessly swipe them through the heavy revolving glass doors of the lobby.
They moved silently through the dark, empty corridors, avoiding the flashlight beams of the clueless night guards.
They finally reached Mauricio's executive suite on the fortieth floor, standing before a heavy steel door locked by a biometric scanner.
Julian pulled a small electronic device from his pocket, expertly wiring it into the scanning panel to bypass the security lock.
The heavy door clicked open, and they slipped quietly into the massive, luxurious office.
Valeria rushed immediately to the main computer terminal, her fingers flying desperately across the mechanical keyboard.
She found the hidden offshore accounts, fully preparing to transfer her stolen money back to her own servers.

Suddenly, the bright overhead fluorescent lights violently flickered on, completely blinding them.
Mauricio was sitting comfortably in his high-backed leather desk chair, casually aiming a silver pistol directly at Valeria’s chest.
