Chapter 9 - The Final Arrest

A massive squad of heavily armed, uniformed police officers flooded aggressively into the lavish ballroom.
They immediately took total control of the chaotic scene, their radios crackling loudly with rapid communication.
Two officers forcefully grabbed Camilla from the floor, brutally yanking her arms behind her back to apply the heavy steel handcuffs.
Camilla wailed miserably, her expensive silk dress now completely ruined and stained with dirt.
"I am a woman of immense wealth, you cannot treat me like a common criminal!" Camilla screamed hysterically at the arresting officers.
The officers completely ignored her entitled complaints and dragged her roughly toward the exit doors.
Another group of police took custody of Julian from Vance’s security team.
Julian was whimpering pathetically, cradling his shattered wrist against his chest as they read him his legal rights.
Richard was slowly pulled up from the floor, his face completely pale and his breathing incredibly shallow.
He looked absolutely nothing like the powerful, arrogant billionaire who had walked into the room an hour ago.
He was just a broken, desperate old man facing the absolute end of his privileged life.
As the police began marching Richard toward the doors, he violently dug his heels into the marble floor.
He turned his head to look back at Elara, his eyes completely wild and manic with a sudden, dark realization.
"You think you have won today, Elara?" Richard shouted, his voice cracking with insane desperation.
Elara stood quietly next to Vance, offering her father absolutely no emotional reaction.
"You put me in a cage, but you will never find 'it' without my help!" Richard screamed loudly over the noise.
Elara finally frowned slightly, a tiny spark of genuine curiosity breaking her cold facade.
"Find what, Richard?" Elara asked cautiously.
Richard let out a twisted, ugly laugh that made the skin on Elara's arms crawl with sudden dread.
"The real reason your mother refused to give me the divorce," Richard smiled wickedly.
Before he could say another word, the police aggressively shoved him forward and forced him out of the ballroom.
The heavy wooden doors swung shut behind the criminals, finally leaving the room in absolute, peaceful silence.

Vance looked at Elara, noting the slight tension returning to her shoulders.
"Do not listen to his poison, Madam Chairwoman, it is over," Vance reassured her respectfully.
