Chapter 10 - The Phoenix

The rain stopped and left a heavy suffocating silence inside the armored transport.
"He faked his death to take control of the deep state from the shadows," Hale whispered as tears finally broke through his hardened exterior.
"He used Silas and he used your family to build his empire."
Rex looked down at his father's body and a profound clarity washed over him.
The cycle of lies and violence had destroyed both of their families for decades.
"Then we find him and we burn his empire to the ground," Rex said with absolute certainty.
For the next six months the three of them became untraceable ghosts.
Rex utilized his underground biker network to gather weapons and intelligence.
Betty utilized her tactical expertise to train Rex in elite infiltration.
Hale used his brilliant mind to dismantle his son's financial and political firewalls.
They tracked Thomas Hale to an island fortress off the coast of the Mediterranean.
They struck at midnight with a flawless tactical assault that overwhelmed the compound's defenses.
Rex fought like a demon and avenged his father with every strike.
When they finally breached the main control room they found Thomas sitting in the dark.
He looked exactly like a younger and crueler version of Arthur Hale.
Thomas didn't fight back but simply smiled as his father aimed a gun at his chest.
"You cannot kill me because I am your legacy," Thomas mocked.
Hale stared at the monster he had brought into the world.
"My legacy is the truth," Hale said before he shot his son directly in the heart.
The global network was dismantled and the corrupted agents were exposed.
Rex buried his father on a quiet hill and finally found peace in the silence.
Hale and Betty stood beside him not as soldiers but as the only family he had left.
Rex smiled as he felt the warmth of the sun on his face for the first time in years.
He threw the silver hawk patch into the grave to bury the curse forever.
A week later Rex was sitting alone in Booth Seven at the diner enjoying a black coffee.
His phone buzzed with an anonymous and heavily encrypted text message.
It contained a single terrifying photograph of Betty handing a briefcase to Agent Miller.
