Chapter 9 - The Nanny's Return

The violent crash sent Sarah flying backward into the catering tables.
Dust, glass, and expensive hors d'oeuvres rained down across the destroyed VIP lounge.
The door of the battered van kicked open, and Maria leaped out with her weapon drawn.
She had ignored my orders to hide, using her tracking skills to follow me to the gala.
I scrambled across the ruined floor and tackled Sarah before she could reach her discarded weapon.
I pinned her arms to the ground, my heart pounding with pure, unadulterated adrenaline.
Maria secured the area, kicking Sarah's gun far out of reach and tying her wrists with heavy zip ties.
I dragged Sarah to a computer terminal sitting on the room's executive desk.
I forced her to log into the offshore banking portal, demanding she reverse the fifty million dollar transfer immediately.
Sarah laughed through her bleeding lip, her eyes filled with spiteful, arrogant defiance.
She typed her password into the system, but the screen flashed a massive red warning.
She explained that the final transfer sequence had an ultimate fail-safe protocol built into the code.
The bank required a real-time vocal authorization from the secondary account holder to release the funds.
The secondary account holder was Elena.
Sarah smiled and told me Elena was currently tied up in the back of a private jet on the runway.
May you like
The jet was scheduled to take off for a non-extradition country in exactly twenty minutes.
If the plane left the ground, the money would be permanently locked, and my son's future would be completely destroyed.
